EXPERIENCE A 4X4 TRAIL IN A TRULY NATURAL ENVIRONMENT

A Trail In Nature

The Legends 4×4 Trail is a grade 3 guided trail (grade 4 obstacles available) situated near Rayton on the R515 (4km from the N4 off-ramp) towards Bapsfontein/Bronkhorstspruit and can only be driven by prior appointment. The mountain section of the trail is a natural trail in a rugged mountainous terrain with beautiful views and rock formations. The 4x4 trail and some obstacles can be challenging.

All guides are qualified 4x4 instructors.

No low profile tyres please. The trail is in a mountainous terrain with rocks that can damage tyres.

The trail consists of the following sections:

  • Academic track to familiarise yourself with 4x4 driving, your own capabilities as well as your vehicle's capabilities.
  • Big sand section to hone your sand driving skills.
  • Mountain trail (5 hours); some of the obstacles (not all) have escape routes.

The trail sections can be combined and tailored to suit your specific requirements.

The trail is on a working farm with cattle and indigenous wildlife. A family restaurant, the Mount Perry Diner, has a ala carte menu and also sells cold refreshments, firewood, ice and charcoal. The diner is open Saturdays and Sundays from 7.30am to 4.30pm. A play area for the children is available near the diner.

Braai facilities can be used on a first come, first served basis but the shaded lapas must be reserved at a nominal fee.

Costs

The cost for the trail itself is R200.00 per vehicle and will be invoiced prior to the trail event.

An entrance fee of R100.00 per vehicle and R30.00 per person is payable at the entrance gate on the day of the event. This fee gives you access to the rest of the facilities at LegndsMX to be enjoyed after the trail.

TRAIL GRADING

We use the following TRAIL GRADING.

Maintained dirt roads: these roads are graded and maintained year round. Typical non-paved country roads.

Easy 2WD/4WD: feature trails with obstacles that are easy to navigate. In optimum weather conditions, these trails may not require the continual use of 4WD.

Standard 4WD trails: demanding trails on which 4WD is required. You will encounter a variety of more difficult challenges (loose rocks, large potholes, steep inclines/declines and large rocks) on these trails. Possible with stock 4WD vehicle; however, traction device, off-road tyres and low air pressure are recommended. Higher than stock ground clearance is advisable. Low range often used. Moderate experience and driving skills advised. Paint damage and/or possible rocker panel damage is likely.

Difficult trails: these trails traverse very rugged terrain and low range 4WD is required. Higher than stock ground clearance is required. Aggressive tread and low air pressure are required. Traction devices, as well as lift and larger tyres are highly recommended. These trails require above average off-road driving skills. Hi-lift jacks and winches would also be helpful. Paint damage and possible vehicle body and/or mechanical damage are likely.

Impassable trails: these trails are for the extreme four-wheeler only. These trails require highly modified vehicles, including lift, excellent articulation, traction devices front and rear, large tyres with aggressive tread, winches and hi-lift jacks. A high level of off-road driving skills is required. Paint damage is virtually guaranteed, while body and/or mechanical damage is very likely. Roll-overs will be more common on these trails and a winch will be used on at least one obstacle.
